Consultation has concluded.

A proposed zoning amendment was submitted to City Council by Councilor Zeid on 5/13/19 to add the Brown School Overlay District specifying the permitting process and zoning requirements applicable to any redevelopment and/or adaptive reuse of the former Brown School property located at Assessors Map/Lot 21-26 (40-42 Milk Street) and 21-3 (99-101 Prospect Street). A joint public hearing with the Planning Board and Planning & Development Committee of the City Council was held on 7/17/19 where the Planning Board voted to recommend that the City Council not adopt this amendment.

Two (2) revisions to this Ordinance were subsequently proposed by the Council sponsor. On 9/11/19 the City Council's Planning and Development (P&D) Committee voted to recommend adoption of the most recent version (posted here in the "Document Library" and dated 9/11/19) as further amended in Committee. The Council voted to approve the proposal on 10/15/19.
